Help Democrats Take Back The House!

Dear Friends,

This week, House Republicans voted for one of the worst bills ever. That terrible bill obliterates Medicaid, threatening health care for 72 million Americans who depend on Medicaid’s lifesaving coverage. We cannot let this stand.

With that cruel vote, Republicans set the wheels in motion to rip away health care from the most vulnerable Americans so they can give a massive tax scam to Trump’s billionaire backers – while still ballooning the national debt by up to $4 trillion. Strengthened by the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid is a lifeline for more than half of America’s children, for people with disabilities, for low income and middle income seniors in nursing homes, and for all residents of rural communities that would see their hospitals and community health centers close without Medicaid funding.

EVERY HOUSE DEMOCRAT SAID “NO” TO RAIDING MEDICAID

Democrats stand with the American people. 81% oppose this scheme to dismantle Medicaid for handouts to the top 1%. Every House Democrat voted to protect Medicaid, SNAP, and veterans' care.

Republicans in tough districts even warned their leadership that they could lose their seats if they had to vote to shred Medicaid. These vulnerable House Republicans may not mind hundreds of thousands of their constituents losing their lifesaving health coverage but they do fear a repeat of 2018 when Republicans tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act – and lost 40 seats and the House Majority. But they took that shameful vote anyway. One Republican member of the House from California’s 22nd Congressional District voted to destroy Medicaid and snatch away people’s health care even though 500,000 people in that district are on Medicaid – that’s more than half of his constituents.

Now like then, the American people will make Republicans pay politically for coming after their health care.  

That terrible vote in the House was only the Republicans’ first step in ramming through their raid on Medicaid, however – it’s not over yet. Before this tragedy for America’s families is finalized, Republicans need to hear from the American people. Contact them and demand that they block this life-threatening raid on Medicaid.

At town halls across the country, House Republicans are facing the wrath of the American people, over 70% of whom support Medicaid. They will certainly face accountability from voters in the next election if they do not reverse course on gutting Medicaid. Democrats saved Social Security in 2005 and took back the House in 2006. We saved health care in 2017 and took back the House in 2018. We can Save Our Health Care again NOW – and win back the House in 2026 by holding Republicans accountable for harming America’s working families. After we grew our numbers in the 2024 election, Democrats only need to flip 3 seats to make Hakeem Jeffries Speaker of the House.
